There’s a lot of moving pieces within affordable housing – not only do you need to manage tenants, properties, and home buyers, but you have to consider security, compliance, and speed of service, too! How do you keep everything under control in order to provide constituents with quality service?
Our recent webinar discussed how to improve processes for housing authorities, community development agencies, and housing finance agencies. These three types of agencies may have different missions and different programs, but they also have multiple similarities when it comes to processes and legal requirements. OnBase, being as functional as it is, can supply solutions to all three of these housing agencies, but configure them in different ways.
Housing Authorities
Section 8 software does a lot for certification and re-certification workflows, but it has some missing pieces. OnBase can fill in the gaps where the Section 8 software isn’t providing the functionality the agency is looking for. Also, OnBase’s design allows it to easily integrate with Section 8 software.
When you’re dealing with physical housing units, handling work orders and asset management can become an issue when you aren’t at your desk. OnBase’s mobile access gives you the ability to retrieve forms and form libraries from the field. It also enables you to streamline business processes by providing mobile review and approval capabilities.
Community Development Agencies
The grant application process can be extremely time consuming and paper intensive. With the help of OnBase, the entire process can become paperless with the help of electronic grant folders and mobile inspections for grant draws. OnBase can even handle CAPER reporting with robust management reporting tools.
Often times, ERP systems are not well-designed for the activities of the community development agencies. OnBase easily integrates with ERP systems so everything is stored in a single repository, which minimizes training and allows staff to work within platforms they’re already familiar with.
Housing Finance Agencies
OnBase allows you to manage the processes that go into special housing funding and multi-family housing funding by using a combination of eForms and underwriting spreadsheets. Those underwriting spreadsheets can become the document that routes through the funding workflow process and the rating and ranking processes. OnBase can also document all the rating and ranking processes and even create the documents needed to take to the board for funding approval.
