My kindergarten-aged son Harry is an excellent reader. I’m a proud papa, so forgive my parent brag: street signs, television subtitles, and books are all read with clarity, decent pronunciation (or approximate phonetic pronunciation if it’s a new word), appropriate pausing, and fluent delivery beyond his years.
So as parents we were surprised a few months ago when a vision screening at school told us Harry needed corrective lenses. When we went to the optometrist to get a prescription, we were shocked; Harry needed THICK glasses. But once he got his glasses, he was more excited about reading than ever before! And he loves wearing his new glasses because of how they help him.
Because of how well he was compensating and reading, we only saw hints of how poor his vision was. When faced with the reality of the situation, we saw what great benefit was had by an upgrade to his visual ability.
Your OnBase system may be a bit like my boy…capable of handling what’s currently thrown at it, but in desperate need of security fixes, performance improvements, and feature enhancements.
When it comes to addressing those issues, DataBank is uniquely poised to assess the “vision” of your current OnBase solution, and partner with you to ensure the ultimate goal: “2020 Vision” for your OnBase system.
Over my next two articles, “2020 OnBase Vision” will serve a double meaning; 20/20 being a measurement of acuity and clarity, as well as our year 2020 being the beginning of a new decade and thus an appropriate time for future planning.
DataBank has made significant investments in OnBase upgrades in recent years by creating an OnBase Upgrade team, to ensure their clients’ upgrade readiness and overall positive upgrade experience. From pre-sales to project delivery, we create an upgrade project plan tailored individually for each client.
On the pre-sales side, we ensure compatibility will exist with the target OnBase version and any custom software components. We advise on upgrade testing and make user acceptance testing recommendations. We advise on change management as needed. We take into account licensed modules and advise on road mapping sunset OnBase licenses.
On the project delivery side, we create customized timelines and set project milestones. Weekly project meetings help keep projects on course and provide a touchpoint for any outstanding issues and potential escalation if needed.
The Upgrade Technician working on the project works with a customizable Upgrade Checklist to keep the project on task, ensure no components are missed and ensure a uniform experience. If you want to do the “heavy lifting” on the upgrade, but have additional DataBank support to ensure a successful project, DataBank resources may be allocated for Go-Live Support to ensure a successful launch of the new version.
Launching Into The Future
Following the project, upgrades and upgrade documentation are formally handed off to DataBank Support. Any unexpected behavior encountered with the project will be noted by the Pro Services resource to the Support Team Lead in charge of handoffs. Finally, our team holds a Lessons Learned discussion to see how we can improve specifically for your solution the next time we upgrade.
With these new practices and methodologies in place, partnering with DataBank for your next OnBase upgrade makes more sense than ever before. See the possibilities and see your OnBase solution with 20/20 clarity.
