Undertaking a massive project to digitize one of the most important library archives in the nation required an organization that has a proven track record of success:

This national library system needed to establish a digital repository for its collection of sensitive documents, many of them one-of-a-kind, that were spread across multiple libraries throughout the US. They sought a highly secure and experienced provider of document scanning services.

Based on the library system’s needs and critical decision-making criteria, DataBank’s national network of SAS 70 Type II certified production centers, our experience in handling valuable historic documents, and our capabilities to handle small to massively large document scanning projects uniquely qualified us.

• Over a 1,000,000 images and 1000’s of publications from around the country were scanned and indexed.


• Scanned images were uploaded into a national archive available for public access where bi-tonal, grayscale, and color images can be viewed.


• Documents varying in size were not an issue for DataBank which has capabilities to digitize any size paper document up to and including large wide format engineering drawings and maps


• These sensitive documents were returned back to the libraries after scanning in the same condition as they were received, another requirement of the library system


• This required use of non-destruct scanning methods - whether book bindings could be readily removed and put back to their original condition or whether removing the binding was not an option was not at issue for DataBank’s book scanning capabilities.
