Dick Aschman CEO
Dick is a dynamic business leader, and one of a hand full of executives who has led global businesses in the document management, business services, entertainment imaging and commercial printing industries. He is recognized for his marketing savvy and for building customer-focused organizations driven to produce profitable growth. As CEO, he led Vutek, a manufacturer of grand format inkjet printers and inks, to a world leadership position. Prior to joining Vutek he spent his career with Kodak, where he directed some of the company’s fastest growing and most profitable units. Dick also has international experience, living in Tokyo, where he managed Kodak businesses in Asia.
Dick was recruited to Vutek shortly after it was purchased by investors in 2000. The company was an innovator in industrial inkjet printing for outdoor display. Dick transformed the company into a global leader. He recruited a superior team, launched new initiatives into new market segments, restructured the sales and manufacturing organization, established fundamental business processes, and created the necessary structure for global growth. Vutek is the best performing company in its peer group and the market share leader, delivering excellent EBITDA. It was purchased by EFI in 2005.
Early in his career Dick moved rapidly through the sales and marketing ranks at Kodak. He was recognized for his strategic planning skills and was asked to lead new initiatives in electronic document management systems. Following a developmental assignment as Assistant to the Chairman of Kodak, Dick was asked to build an organization to establish corporate alliances globally for Kodak, an activity producing multiple new business initiatives and joint ventures.
In 1991 Dick was asked to relocate to Tokyo, Japan, where he restructured a poorly performing Japanese subsidiary, built document and computer output service businesses in Asia, and acquired the leading service providing business in Australia and New Zealand. Following his success in Asia, he was appointed President of Kodak’s motion picture business located in Hollywood. During this assignment he delivered significant improvements in the business, leading Kodak in customer satisfaction and earnings per sales dollar. He again proved his relationship and alliance building skills by creating strong business links with the studios and “creatives” in the motion picture industry.
Before joining Vutek, Dick led the commercial business for Kodak, a market sector that was facing a major technology transition. He drove new initiatives in digital imaging and output, repositioning the business.
Dick is a Member of the Academy of Motion Picture and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is also an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers. He has served on boards of companies in software, business services, and visual effects.
Dick received his BS in Marketing from The Ohio State University in 1972.
